WAVERLY – Cornell newcomers
Wayne Jurica and
Jude Weaver combined for 30 points Saturday as the Rams fell 99-74 to Wartburg in the consolation game of the Buzz Levick Tournament in Levick Arena.
Jurica came off the bench to net a team-high 17 points on efficient 7-of-12 shooting from the field. Weaver pitched in 13 points, also a collegiate best to his young career.
The Rams (0-3) shot 43.1 percent from the field, although couldn't keep pace with the host Knights (3-1) who buried 13 3-pointers in the contest.
Wartburg put up 51 points in the opening half to build a 17-point lead at the break. The Knights shot 51.3 percent for the game and won the battle on the boards, 50-36.

Cristian Acevedo pulled in a team-high five rebounds.
Ben Kmak dished three assists.
Coming up – Cornell is back in action Wednesday at home against Dubuque. Tipoff is 7 p.m.
